Ventoso Vines Bobal

Ventoso Vines Bobal 2009
Manchuela, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain

Bobal -- no relation to boba tea or Boba Fett -- is a red grape native to Valencia, Spain. It thrives in the long hot days on the plains of La Mancha.

Review: The flavors produced in the Ventoso Vines Bobal are quite nice -- lots of plums and blackberries. This wine has a a medium body and a surprisingly low alcohol (only 12.5%) given the hot climate. I really dig the texture of this wine -- the tanins are just slightly grippy. It was great on its own, but I imagine the wine would really sing when paired with food.

Food Pairing: Ribs!

Bottom Line: The overall light impression of this wine makes is great for summer time. I dig it.
